Pregnancy and childbirth are beautiful and natural processes. These experiences should be cherished by families who are looking forward to the next step in their lives. Unfortunately, the impending birth of a child can also be overwhelming for many sometimes. Childbirth comes with many unknowns, and so many hope to eliminate the stress and trauma that come with delivery by having a home birth. Sadly though, not everyone is eligible for a home birth, and complications during pregnancy and delivery can sometimes cause a change of plans and a hospital birth instead. For unexpected complications like these, we’ve created our Home Birth Hybrid Program!
The birth of a child is a challenging yet wonderful moment. Mothers who seek a home birth want an option that ensures their experience is as natural and harmonious as possible. They want the birthing experience to be free of stress, not just for themselves and their partner but for their child as well.
At home, you can customize the experience in a way that can’t be achieved in a hospital setting. Most importantly, they want a supportive provider, free of judgment, and respectful of their wishes.
For expecting mothers looking to deliver their baby safely at home, it may be hard to find a licensed provider. In the state of Georgia, there are very few licensed providers that offer home birth options. However, we often see mothers who have not received prenatal care, and sometimes also don’t share their concerns with their regular doctor, for fear of being judged in their search for a home provider.
If in these cases, the mother experiences the need for a hospital transfer, fear often causes them to delay the transfer as long as possible. Unfortunately, in some life-threatening circumstances, like postpartum hemorrhage, this delay can lead to devastating outcomes for mom and baby. While rare, maternal fatalities still occur, and a delay in life-saving treatment can mean the difference in the survival of mom and baby.
2Me Healthcare is now in cooperation with Providence Women’s Healthcare!
Although 2Me nor Providence are able to be a direct back-up to your home birth provider, we can still “bridge the gap” by being a supportive solution for low-risk patients for their prenatal care and provide for a smooth transition to the hospital setting, if needed. That said, in these cases, a need for in-hospital treatment does not mean that your birth plan goes entirely out the window. We will honor your requests as much as possible and ensure that your concerns are answered.
Our revolutionary Home Birth Hybrid Program does require approximately 4-5 in-person visits at the office with an experienced and supportive midwife. The remaining visits can be accomplished by telehealth visits in the comfort of your home or office. The program also allows the patient to give birth at home with their preferred midwife! After an evaluation, patients are placed into one of four risk levels for home birth, depending on their medical history and presentation during pregnancy.
Our main goal is to assist every mother in having the birth experience she wants, as much as is safely possible. Each new patient will be given a thorough assessment to review their medical history and help review and try to eliminate possible factors that may risk her out-of-home birth.
The cost of birth with and without insurance can be an overwhelming detail for many parents. Those preferring home birth options may be concerned that an additional program would not be financially feasible for their family.
However, we have created our Home Birth Hybrid Program to be as financially affordable as possible. If our patients carry insurance, we will work with your insurance provider to reduce the costs and provide you with your deductible and out-of-pocket costs on the first visit.
Suppose a patient does not have insurance or is using their insurance for their at-home provider. In that case, patients will pay a discounted, pro-rated amount that includes prenatal visits and a delivery fee. While laboratory tests and ultrasounds are not included in this price, we offer them at a discounted self-pay rate. This makes our program affordable and accessible. We also offer a 3rd party company that provides interest-free payment plans to help ease any financial burdens.
While we recommend a hospital birth for our clients, we believe that every woman should have the freedom to choose their provider and guide the birthing process in a direction that makes them the most comfortable. We want to empower women while also educating them on all their options no matter where they choose to deliver. A sudden change during delivery should not mean a complete break in a mother’s wishes. Our program seeks to provide a continuum of care to give mom and baby the best possible care while also honoring her wishes and without compromising her and her child’s safety.
The pregnancy and arrival of the newest member of your family is an important journey that you should handle with tender care and love. At 2Me Healthcare, we offer in-office or in-home options to provide the best prenatal or postpartum care for you and your family. For mothers wishing to experience birth at home with their home birth provider, we seek to honor their wishes and help keep them safe when the unexpected happens.
